This was facilitated by serving on the Curriculum, Learning Resources and Faculty Development committees as well as the Long Range Planning Committee that determined that the BSN was essential to the future of nursing practice. Your next step might be broadening this understanding to the entire nursing curriculum, so that health information literacy is embedded in all courses.
Good luck! The only thing that I would add to that is that over the semesters/years I have been doing this, I have also pulled from students what they felt was helpful and how they viewed the professors expectations when it came to assignments.

I found that at times the faculty member was saying one thing but their expectations as communicated through the grades they gave were a bit different.

I felt getting the perspective of both really gave me a better idea as to how I could be most helpful.Royhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10700173901285139548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6691508031010730084.post-26392160415387099292011-11-05T08:05:07.274-05:002011-11-05T08:05:07.274-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.KENJIhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09077211402427808012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6691508031010730084.post-66454213349095554082011-10-18T20:43:13.134-05:002011-10-18T20:43:13.134-05:00Had very successful one-on-one sessions (face to f...Had very successful one-on-one sessions (face to face) in the past few months. I manage the facebook and twitter accounts for the library I work at, and I use yahoo pipes to feed library blogs (from our services and from individual librarians blogging for work) into both. But also we get sent content suggestions from other teams and from our communications person. We also have a bank of pre-written tweets we can copy and paste from if we are short of new things to say.
I try not to over-post to facebook, it cant take as much posting as twitter - people just switch off the feed. But for twitter we try to post 2 or 3 times a day. We get a reasonable number of enquiries and comments via twitter, and obviously we respond to those as well.
I hope this is helpful - if a little late!Katharine Widdowshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01824167388969590553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6691508031010730084.post-60958655034170852102011-01-27T09:54:06.715-06:002011-01-27T09:54:06.715-06:00Beth, Agree! I also liken it to traveling. If you don't know where you're going, any route will get you there AND any place will probably be fine - you need a destination. Similarly, just as you pointed out in your post, we need to know what we are doing with the information before we can honestly judge when enough is enough.
